Course on Blockchain, Self-Sovereign Identities, and Legal Considerations

General information

After the success of the first two Spanish editions of this course, the International Chair in Blockchain for Cybersecurity, CyberChain, presents the English version. The Course on Blockchain, Self-Sovereign Identities, and Legal Considerations is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of how legal aspects are increasingly important in any digital solution.

The main goal of the course is to minimize the gap between the needs of the sector and the highly qualified professionals capable of providing these services.

To achieve this, students will gain knowledge in the following areas:

  • Blockchain: A fundamental aspect when ensuring information security at different levels, for example, by generating tamper-proof transactions. However, Blockchain technology itself is not immune to cyberattacks or fraud. Therefore, throughout the course, special attention will be paid to cybersecurity aspects so that all participants learn to design Blockchain-based solutions while optimizing their cybersecurity levels.
  • Self-Sovereign Identities: Access and identity management, combined with key management techniques, are among the specific security controls that can be incorporated at an enterprise level when using Blockchain. The course content will explain how to address these aspects from a security-oriented perspective.
  • Legal Aspects: The course aims to review, from both theoretical and practical perspectives, how to ensure compliance with the different applicable regulations, with special focus on the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

The training, as well as the Chair itself, is coordinated by INCIBE, the University of Salamanca, and the BISITE Research Group. It is designed to be followed at one’s own pace, using audiovisual materials and presentations. Students who complete all activities will receive a certificate of attendance attesting to their learning.

Methodology: 

The course seeks to provide comprehensive learning experience, allowing students to connect theory, practice, and critical analysis. This way, they will be prepared to face current challenges in the field of Blockchain, as well as to identify and respond effectively to them. b
