The International Chair in Blockchain for Cybersecurity, CyberChain, presents the course Introduction to Digital Forensic Analysis, a free online training program available on the e4you platform.

The training, just like the chair itself, is coordinated by the National Cybersecurity Institute of Spain (INCIBE), the University of Salamanca, and the BISITE Research Group. Its goal is to introduce students to the fundamentals of digital forensics and cybersecurity without requiring prior knowledge.

The course is designed for technical profiles interested in entering the field of digital forensic analysis, as well as for professionals in the legal field who need to become familiar with the basics of digital forensics.

The course is structured into six fundamental modules:

  • Module 1: Fundamentals of Digital Forensic Analysis.
  • Module 2: Evidence Preservation and Chain of Custody.
  • Module 3: Acquisition of Digital Evidence.
  • Module 4: Forensic Analysis.
  • Module 5: Cybersecurity Concepts and Incident Response.
  • Module 6: Presentation of Results.

 

Course Competencies:

Upon completion, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the basic fundamentals of digital forensics and cybersecurity.
  • Identify the main phases of a digital forensic analysis process.
  • Recognize the importance of evidence preservation and the chain of custody.
  • Become familiar with basic methods for acquiring and analyzing digital evidence.
  • Understand how the results of a forensic analysis are presented.

 

Methodology: 

It aims to provide a comprehensive and hybrid learning experience (combining in-person and online modalities), allowing students to connect theory with practice.

  • Live synchronous classes: approx. 4h (13%).
  • Videos / readings / learning capsules: approx. 6h (20%).
  • Self-study, review, and optional exercises: approx. 20h (67%).

It is important to note that the course has limited places.
