Blockchain, self-sovereign identities and legal aspects

General information

The course on "Blockchain, Self-Sovereign Identities, and Legal Aspects" is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of how legal aspects are increasingly important in any digital solution. This means that in most projects, qualified personnel are required both technically and theoretically. The course aims to minimize the gap between the sector's needs and the highly qualified professionals who can provide these services.
The knowledge to be taught to the students includes the following:

  • Blockchain: As is well known, this is a key aspect in providing security for information at different levels, such as through the generation of tamper-proof transactions. However, Blockchain technology itself is not immune to cyberattacks or frauds, and there are various types of attacks it may suffer (routing attacks, Sybil attacks, 51% attacks, or even phishing). Therefore, special attention will be given to cybersecurity aspects throughout the course, ensuring that all participants know how to design Blockchain-based solutions that optimize cybersecurity levels.
  • Self-Sovereign Identities: Access and identity management, combined with key management techniques, are specific security controls that can be integrated at the enterprise level when using Blockchain. The course will explain how to approach these fundamental aspects from a secure perspective, contributing to the necessary transparency of each use case.
  • Legal Aspects: The course aims to theoretically and practically review how to ensure compliance with the various applicable regulations, with a special focus on the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
Methodology: 

It seeks to provide a comprehensive learning experience where students can connect theory, practice, and critical analysis. In this way, they can prepare for the current challenges in the field of blockchain, as well as recognize and respond effectively to them.
