General information

With a focus on the key content that it communicates, this course begins by, firstly, defining ‘Cyber Intelligence’ (CYBINT), together with outlining the ‘rationale’ for CYBINT, such as for Cyber Security purposes. Secondly, the course examines how CYBINT work can be structured, with an emphasis on the ‘factors to consider', CYBINT ‘dimensions’, then moving to a focus on the processes of ‘prioritisation’ and ‘sense- to decision-making’. Thirdly, the course concentrates on the ‘doing’ of CYBINT, advancing System-of-Systems Dynamics (SoSD) concepts, for example, PMESII as harnessed by entities such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). Fourthly, CYBINT-relevant Intelligence Engineering (IE) pathways forward are introduced, before, fifthly, coming to some overall course conclusions & takeaways. Those last qualities include greater consideration that in CYBINT enterprises: (i) ‘The whole equals more than sum of (individual) parts’; extending to (ii) the position that we are moving conditions and situations ‘From “wait & watch” to “see & strike”’ operationally up and across to strategically; as well as (iii) that ‘Situational Awareness remains key overall’.

Methodology:

Blended learning - mixed-methods: 5 online sessions (each with approx. 10mins video lecture) + complete 5 multiple choice test assignments for course assessment.
